Yooyooafrica.com had an interaction with one of the new sensational rising actor in Ghana, Anthony Woode who has starred in couple of movies and series in Ghana and outside the shores.
The actor stressed diligently on the slow of the movie Industry….
“The movie industry, is stagnant nothing exceptional, people are trying , like the shirleys, Ivan qwarshigah and co.. The industry can only grow if opportunities are giving to talented aspiring actors”
Many film directors and producers believe featuring upcoming actors doesn’t help in sales. Anthony Woode however sees this to be wrong. The actor emphasize.
“Yes movie making is a business entity, producers will like to make profits after the movie is released. But have they forgotten RISK taking in business? if you are not ready to take risk dont start..There are number of movies even with the big names haven’t made their gains back
Because they didnt use the right channel to get to the audience”.
Woode stressed on how the public can accept movies.
“Publicity is key. If there is quality, good acting, good story , i bet you people will rush for copies, and these producers will make enough money. Look at nigeria for instant, they always introduce new faces yet they make their monies.
The versatile actor bitterly expressed his view on how producers of the game has been selfish and not making the game grow.
“Producers have become lazy now a days . What they do is shoot and sell right to dstv and co and take money.”
Many actors with the likes of Adu Kofi (Agya koo), Majid Michel, Jackie Appiah, Kojo Nkasah and co believe that, their contribution to the movie industry has taken the industry to a whole different level.
Yooyooafrica.com reporter asked the actor of his plans and what he can add up to fascinate this stagnant industry he think.
“Yes. I have got lot of plans. Of which i can’t let out because it will sound like a brag, but trust me it won’t be easy but together with the great force of upcomers we will have an impact in the industry.” He added.
The actor who has starred in many feature films and series like, Sophie, Announcement, Ashes of the past, who the cap fit, Breaking Dawn etc explained to our reporter about his character in the series ‘Breaking Dawn’ which is aired on tv3 every Thursday at 8:30pm.
“Well in the Breaking Dawn series, I played the lead character, AKWASI BARFOUR son of MR. BARFOUR played by Kofi Ajorlolo. Akwasi , was a drug addict, womanizer and a flirt, he happened to be deported from the states due to possession of drugs, he came back to ghana with nothing. He mishandled his fathers wealth until an un sudden death of his father kept his life in disrupt.Now he’s to transform from boy to man and manage his fathers company which he had no idea about. I enjoy playing such role even though it’s challenging but I was always nail it.”
The actor who was nominated somewhere last year in the London film festival awards and the Ghana tertiary awards has yet been nominated in the new National student Awards (NSA) in the category of the best actor.
Anthony Woode, spread his advise to the youth and those aspiring to be in the movie industry.
” My advice to the youth and those aspiring actors is just three things, Humility, practise and pray”.
The finest actor urge his fans to keep supporting him with prayers, because he is here to make changes in the industry.
