The South African film industry continues with its dominance on the continent, scoring several nominations at the upcoming Nigerian Entertainment Awards to be held in New York later this year.
South African films Ayanda and Tell Me Sweet Something both secured two nominations each at the awards.
Ayanda’s leading actress Fulu Mugovhani, who won the Best Actress award at the Africa Movie Academy Awards, is nominated in the Africa (Non Nigerian) Best Actress category.
The film is also nominated in the Africa (Non Nigerian) Best Picture category.
Tell Me Sweet Something director secured a nomination in the Best Director category, while his film will contest the prestigious Best Picture category.
There is also a nomination for Happiness Is a Four-letter Word Ghanaian actor Chris Attoh, who is nominated in the Africa (Non Nigerian) Best Actor category.
South African songbird Lira scored a nomination in the prestigious Best African Female Artist (Non Nigerian/Africa) category.
The 2016 awards will be held on September 4 2016 in New York City.
