Cape Town – Candice Abrahams, the reigning Schwarzkopf Professional Miss South Africa 2016, has been named Miss World 2016 in a glamourous event held in China on Saturday.
Abrahams is the first South African who has managed to be crowned Miss World.
Two years ago former Miss South Africa,Sarah-Kate Scott, was crowned 1st runner-up. At the time it was highest ever placing of a Miss South Africa at Miss World pageant.
Moments before her first press conference on Sunday as Miss World Abrahams reached out to all her fans in a video posted on the official Miss South Africa Facebook page.
In it an excited Miss World thanked everyone for supporting her.She said:
“My heart is just so happy. I’m so excited to represent South Africa and I’m looking forward going home, seeing you all and spreading the love”
Later she posted on her own Facebook page:
“I am so humbled and appreciative of all the wonderful messages on Facebook,Whatsapp and email. “It’s means so much to me! I am honored to walk with purpose as your MISS WORLD”.
Abrahams was one of 36 of the world’s most beautiful women to take part in the pageant and the second African to have won the Miss world.
Shortly of the crowning Miss South Africa posted on its official Facebook page : “Candice and the Miss South Africa Organisation would like to thank all South Africans and the rest of the African countries for your incredible support. Tonight we stand tall, we stand united and we are PROUDLY SOUTH AFRICAN!” The moment Abrahams was crowned Miss World 2016,
