Veteran Ghanaian actor Fred Amugi speaking to yooyooafrica.com reporter on a movie set shooting in Akosombo.
The actor who is known for his great in-depth and bringing roles to life gave some few words on the profession….He said…
“I have been doing this for long and am still in the business, because I keep learning everyday as an actor”.
When asked of our standard of movie now and the future, this is what he had to say..
“I think we doing good and we are being professional because our story line and technical in shooting is really improving”.
The actor, also spoke passionately on the Actors Guild when asked of people paying what they call location fees to production companies.
“I have never paid such money before because if you call me to come work for you, then you know my wealth in fact you are to pay me so I don’t know why I should pay location fees and this is happening because our Actors Guild is not strong enough to put down the right structures to see to all this in the industry”.
Fred is married with three children but have lost one which happens to be the only lady.
The actor stressed on talents and their opportunities.
“There are many talents in this industry, but producers and directors has refused to give them the chance to showcase what they’ve got”….He added.
“I gave Nana Ama Mcbrown her first shot when she use to costume us in movies, on the set of ‘That Day’ Nana drove me to town when we saw a taxi driver struggling to move his car in a gutter she took the keys and drove the car out of it so on getting to the set I told the director to use her as the arm robbers driver and since then she has not looked back”.
When our reporter asked him if he will pick Mcbrown as second wife, he laughed and said..
“I can pick her even as my first wife “.
Uncle Fred as many called him advised the upcoming actors and actresses to stay focus and know that becoming a star is a journey not a day thing.
