OKYEAME KWAME APPOINTED AS THE NEW READING AMBASSADOR
The Canadian government has appointed Okyeame Kwame as its new reading ambassador.
The Canadian Organization for Development through Education(CODE), a Canadian non-governmental organization in partnership with the Ghana Book trust on its campaign in 2018 appointed the ‘rap dacta’ as its ambassador.
Mrs Genevieve Eba-Polley, the director of Ghana Book Trust made mention in her speech that he was appointed as a result of his exemplary life as a father.
His purpose of appointment he said was to use his great influence to drive their new campaign which is captioned “Read with me”.
According to them, research has it that parents play a major role in the lives of children when it comes to reading.
The children’s interest in reading gets activated ant they are motivated when helped by their parents other than being screamed on to read on their own.
She added that Okyeame Kwame can be a great motivation for the reading project.
In acceptance of his new position, the afro pop rapper expressed his excitement and recounted that even at the age of 10, he faced difficulties in reading since his parents didn’t show any sign of interest in it, he was discouraged.
He further promised to let his positive influence manifest in the lives of children on his appointment as the new reading ambassador.
Read with me is a Canadian organization for Development through Education (CODE)’s reading promotion campaign designed to promote the love and habit of reading by providing encouragement and inspiration.
