There was a time, a year and a bit ago, when the thought of DJ Vigilante and Cassper Nyovest making music together seemed less likely than your chances of winning the Lotto.
“Cassper is keeping his coins, a lot of young talent go broke trying to act rich”.
A feud between the two erupted in 2014 after an MTV Base Hottest MCs list discussion, in which DJ Vigilante seemed to throw shade at Cassper, saying that his music was all over the place and was still trying to grow.
Cassper ranked at number two on that list and vented his frustration over not being named number one, through a diss track, Beef.
Cassper opened the track with a shot at DJ Vigilante, before playing a sample of DJ Vigilante and others criticising his album.
“None of y’all niggas can f*ck with me. The cheque I got this morning says f*ck Vigi,” he rapped.
But fast forward to 2016 and the unlikely pair have announced that they have teamed up on an upcoming collaboration.
Cassper posted a picture of the two of them in studio and promised fans a hit..
He tweeted. .
“I’m not trying to overhype anything but this song I’m doing with @DJVigilanteSA is too much. #Ayeye”
While also sharing a snippet of what to expect.
“In studio with @DJVigilanteSA .trust me fans..this is dope”.
Cassper has largely stayed away from any kind of beef since he filled up the TicketPro Dome in Johannesburg last year.
In June he told Jacaranda FM that he has found a new sense of peace and was no longer interested in getting into public feuds.
“I just asked myself: ‘Why am I fighting with rappers? There are so many people that have done great things in this world and they will be remembered forever for the good they’ve done…they inspire me and I don’t look up to rappers,” He concluded.
